Hey everyone!! I already made it to the second exercise in the "Artistic Fitness" book, that means 48 more to go! It was all about drawing a snail. I didn't attach an original sketch of the first exercise but I figured I would this time. The book teaches you to draw and shade things very traditionally or more "realistically" than my style.
For my doodle, snails are typically thought to be these slow, boring, creatures. But I am sure than is at least one snail out there who decides to dream big. My snail wants to be a breakdancer. He doesn't let any "haters" get him down as he spins on his shell with his oversized boombox.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Holiday Gift Tags!
Hey everyone I have been so busy illustrating and shopping and crafting, etc I still had time for a project I had wanted to do both this year and last, create my own Holiday gift tags!! I could easily pick some up at the dollar stores (last year I bought Disney Princess ones) but then again I am an artist and create my own for free.
I wanted to make Holiday and Winter cupcakes. Cupcakes are of course, one my most favorite things on the planet, so why not??? I did a couple of sketches on a napkin at work:

Hey, I didn't say they would be pretty, they are just sketches :P My sketches are always super rough...
And I came up with this sheet of simple vector illustrations:
I just cut them out with a regular pair of scissors leaving a little bit of a white border around them so they can still POP against the colorful wrapping paper I was using.
Here are some photos of what they look like on my gifts:
This is on a gift for my brother, he loves the penguin one!!
And as a treat, I want to share them with you all!! Feel free to download and print the PDF by clicking here: http://violet-ink.com/VioletInkChristmasTag.pdf
Enjoy!!

How to Sketch a Crowd
Hey everyone I just wanted to share a tutorial that helped me draw the Alice Glass Illustration. When you are drawing something, it is always good to use other things as a point of reference to make sure what you are creating is still relatively accurate. I recommend taking your own photos so you can get EXACTLY what you had in mind.
Sometimes though it's pretty impossible to take a photo. I mean, where was I going to gather an entire crowd to photograph and illustrate?
That's why I was happy to find this tutorial:
How to Sketch a Crowd -- powered by eHow.com
Getting myself re-acquainted with the proper perspective to use really dug me out of a ditch. I highly recommend you watch this video if you are dabble in drawing :) maybe you'll learn something new!
Have a good day everyone!

Many Updates; One Posting
Alright well I've been so uninspired all week long, and the previous week etc.
Applying for lots of jobs only to get no responses. :\
One was for designing paper dolls for a children's magazine and inspiration hit me like a bolt of lightening. I'll make a set of paper dolls! I wanted to do an animal, maybe a cat and a puppy but I thought that would be too Hello Kitty-ish.
I also did a sketch a few weeks ago for another pin-up girl. One that resembles a cupcake and try to expand, or make a set with my Miss Muffet pin-up. That's in the works.
But, yesterday I just bought the new Batman game, Arkham Asylum for my xbawks 360.
I'm all Batman, Batman, Batman now. Drawing inspiration from that, I decided to take my first concept and make instead a BATMAN PAPERDOLL SET.
PLUSSS I'd love to re-visit and polish up my Halloween set. I didn't make the goody bags. I have another ferret to make as well . . .
Well okay, so I have all these half finished, just started projects floating around on paper and my computer, and PLUS my awesome buddy Jame's Birthday is coming up soon. Sooo I'm going to make him something. But he has Blogger so I can't say what it isssss on hereeeeee.
His present is now NUMBER ONE PRIORITY rofll.
I think he will like it. And I'm sure I can finish it before his birthday.
PS: Since I'm on my dell you're just going to have to deal with shitty cellphone camera quality pics of my sketches MMKAY.
Off to work. :D

Not Forgetting to Post
I figured I would start the work on it now so it would be ready BEFORE Halloween.
Yesterday I was at my brother's girlfriend's house hanging out in the garage, sitting in a golf cart with my Macbook while he was working on his car and played Teen Titans. Needless to say, I don't get any internet sitting in a golfcart.
All I can upload are my crappy sketches and an early photo of my screen that I took with my phone >.>
BUT I WAS WORKING ON SOMETHING SO HAH PROCRASTINATION!
